Course Creator & Copywriter

Steve Wellings

I help content creators turn their knowledge and wisdom into courses that sell.

That's right, working with people just like you to monetise your expertise, experience and good ideas.

My Learning Process

I was going to call it a philosophy, but that sounds a bit too fancy. A method, perhaps, or a system? Regardless, I strive to create courses that are written by a human, for other humans, using educational strategies and engaging story-based scenarios. Here's how it works...

Story-driven
Using stories and scenarios for educational purposes. Delivering information via characters, narratives and storytelling.
This benefits the learner as it is a more entertaining and engaging method than dry facts, raw stats or death by PowerPoint slides. Learners can empathise with realistic or imaginary stories that may include conflict resolution and choice-making

Active recall methods
There are a variety of active recall techniques that can be implemented, such as reading information and brain dumping it on a document or paper to see how much you’ve learned.
Active or immersive methods are often more effective than passive approaches.
Active retrieval prompts the brain to search for an answer. It can be mentally demanding but improves memory retrieval.

And Then What?A simplified take on Michaela Light’s "What Would It Take?" or Basadur's "How Might We?" thinking tools, "And Then What?" is an organisational method that keeps the user on task and on track.By focusing on the next move it reduces overwhelm and breaks big projects (with multiple steps) into smaller, more manageable, fragments.

Example: Making a cup of teaPick up the kettle - And then what?
Fill with water - And then what?
Pick out the cup - And then what?
And so forth…
This is an extreme example as it can be made into larger task blocks, but when you’re under motivated it can create momentum shifts.

Reflective learning
A good technique for our holistic or self-development courses which are less rote learning intensive and more introspective or thoughtful.
The Open University, who I studied with, explains this approach as, “Self-reflective learning is the process of critically examining your own experiences, actions, and thought processes to improve future outcomes. It transforms everyday experiences into deep, actionable knowledge by helping you identify your strengths, recognize learning gaps, and adjust your habits accordingly.”

Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) involved?
No. I only use an AI tool for creating images, graphics or sometimes for repetitive tasks, it has no input in the system or learning materials used. All courses are created with a human-centred approach. Designed by a person, for other people.
